Takapara - Socks

Colourful, often mismatched socks, knitted in Łódź on a dense gauge.

Start with the knit, not the colour. That is where Takapara separates itself from the crowded world of novelty socks. The brand has worked from Łódź, Poland's old textile city, for around ten years, and says its socks are made in its own manufactory there. Combed, Oeko-Tex certified cotton keeps the colours steady and the feel soft. A dense gauge, roughly two hundred needles, is what holds the drawings crisp instead of blurred.

The catalogue is wider than most people expect. Mismatched pairs sit under the FUN line, where left and right differ but share a theme. CLS keeps to dots, stripes and geometry in saturated tones. ART leans on Bauhaus, Art Deco and collaborations with illustrators and tattoo artists. DS covers dress socks in mercerised cotton and merino, for anyone who wants restraint with a little mischief underneath.

Socks are only the entry point. Beanies come in cotton, eco cotton and mulesing-free merino, alongside underwear, caps and small accessories. Sizes run from children's up to a genuinely large 46-50, which is rarer than it sounds. Flat toe seams and soft, non-binding cuffs are standard. Playful on the surface, disciplined underneath.

Why we love this brand

Because the playfulness is backed by real making. The patterns stay sharp because the knit is dense, not because a photo was retouched. A brand that states where it produces, keeps its cotton certified, and still finds room for mismatched pairs and the odd joke. Substance under the colour.
