Grenouille Rouge
More than a bag, a piece of life made in Normandy
Grenouille Rouge is a Normandy brand of bags, totes, baskets and decorative objects, all made in France. The story began in 2000, when Marie-Isabel Rojo, who started her career in upholstery in 1996, repurposed the natural fabrics she worked with daily, namely jute, linen and hemp, to make her first bag. Demand grew, the brand was registered in 2016, and Bénédicte joined the workshop in 2018.
Every product is made in the atelier in the Rouen area of Normandy. The jute and linen come from Tissage du Ronchay in Luneray, only a few kilometres away. The leather used for handles is vegetable-tanned. The brand pushes consistency further through upcycling partnerships: bags cut from recycled coffee sacks with Vert-tiges in Fécamp, bags made from tarpaulin and blind offcuts with SOCOTEX in Honfleur since 2022.
Awarded the Trophées de l'économie Normande at the Salon du Made in France in 2019, and a member of ARSEN (Regional Association of Normandy's Excellence Crafts), Grenouille Rouge stands for genuine local French production, rooted in its region, and active transmission of craft skills through internships and weekend sewing workshops held in the atelier.

Why we love this brand
Genuine French production, rooted in a Normandy atelier since the early 2000s, with rare coherence: natural fabrics sourced a few kilometres away, upcycling partnerships with nearby companies, active transmission of the craft through workshops. Grenouille Rouge treats the tote bag as a useful, durable, clearly situated object.
Featured products
Jute and customisable baskets
The jute basket is one of the brand's signature products, and the only piece that can be customised in three steps: text, colour, handles. The range covers small storage baskets for the bathroom, the office or a child's room, larger formats for blankets, toys or clothing, and log carriers for the fireplace. Alongside the jute lines, the recycled-canvas baskets are wipe-clean and built for those who want practical storage without giving up natural materials or French manufacturing. The whole category reflects the founder's upholstery background: solid construction, structured shapes, and a clear sense of everyday utility.
Totes and handbags
Totes and handbags sit at the heart of Grenouille Rouge production. The jute tote, designed for groceries, the beach or the city, comes in several sizes and colours, with vegetable-tanned leather handles. The linen bag, more structured, is built for daily urban use. The upcycled totes tell another story: some are cut from recycled coffee sacks in partnership with Vert-tiges in Fécamp, others from tarpaulin and blind offcuts sourced at SOCOTEX in Honfleur since 2022. The Unique Pieces and Capsule section gathers very limited runs, often built from fabric ends or prototypes, each bag hand-finished in the Normandy atelier.
Accessories and capsule collections
Beyond bags, the Grenouille Rouge atelier extends its world into home decoration and small series. The ski medal holders, made from linen, are designed to be hung on a wall and frame seasonal trophies. The Map of France cushions, in cotton, take a regional approach as a nod to the territory. The Soco pouches and washbags, smaller siblings of the Soco tote, are cut from synthetic shading-canvas offcuts. The Atelier and Capsule Collections section brings together unique pieces, prototypes and end-of-run items at reduced prices, alongside the sewing workshops led by Marie-Isabel and Bénédicte, in groups of four, in the Normandy workshop itself.
