It starts with a pocket. Patch-stitched, layered, riveted at every corner: this is the gesture that signs each Arno Polynice garment and makes it recognisable at a glance. Behind the label stands one person, a young designer who masters the whole chain of a garment, from styling to pattern-making, from prototype to industrialisation, trained at the lycée Mendès-France in Épinal. The name already tells the story: Arno, his French first name, Polynice, his Haitian surname, two cultures brought together by a Vosges adoption shared with his brother Wilguens. Launched in 2024, the brand draws a unisex wardrobe poised between chic, streetwear and workwear: fitted jackets, shirts, pleated trousers, coordinated sets with vertical pleats, and evening creations in deep fabrics, an anthracite with quiet sheen. Everything is made by hand in his Épinal atelier, in the Vosges, where each piece passes through his hands from cutting to final assembly. Fabrics are chosen one by one, natural wherever possible (cotton, linen, wool, viscose, silk), sometimes rescued from textile-industry roll-ends to spare them the bin. Now and then, encounters give rise to pieces apart: for a single collaboration, the embroiderer Marie Torres ran rivers of crystals by hand in point de Lunéville; one jacket was designed for and with the singer Meloofchrist. The door also stays open, case by case, to a bespoke commission. One designer, one sewing machine, one obsession with detail.
A brand where transparency isn't a marketing line but an honest situation: one designer who handles everything, from sketch to assembly, reclaimed roll-ends, second-hand tools, and pieces shaped one at a time.
