Le Mouton à Soie

Merino and silk knit, designed in Sigean, wearable even in summer.

Wool in the middle of August: the idea is enough to raise an eyebrow, yet that is exactly where it all begins. Le Mouton à Soie grew out of Lisa Peissak's sudden love of wool, born at the arrival of her second daughter. Coming from a world far removed from fashion and from business, she developed a fine knit of 70% organic merino wool and 30% natural silk, airy enough to wear in spring and through the height of summer. The first collection appeared in spring 2018.

The yarn, certified GOTS and Naturtextil IVN BEST, comes from mulesing-free merino. Nothing is outsourced far away. Knitting and dyeing take place in Rhône-Alpes, in two GOTS-certified workshops. Lisa designs, drafts the patterns and grades every style at her premises in Sigean, in the Aude, before the making-up and the embroidered little logo move to a workshop in the Tarn, only a few kilometres apart.

The knit regulates temperature, breathes, dries quickly and does not hold odours. Depending on the piece it comes in rib, honeycomb or jersey, in a palette worked colour by colour: Naturel, Rose ancien, Curry jaune, Bleu Paon, Vert garrigue, Cacao chaud, Figue. Simple cuts, clear colours, and that softness that never scratches.

This is the brand's fullest wardrobe, close to thirty pieces that span the whole year: fluid dresses, skirts, leggings, wide trousers, cardigans, vest tops, short and long-sleeved tees, tops with worked necklines. The cuts stay simple, sometimes slightly flared so they fall just right on the body, with a honeycomb trim here, a soft rib there; one dress is worn with or without its belt, one cardigan turns back at the cuff without breaking the line. The merino and silk knit stays fine and breathable: you keep it from spring into high summer, and layer up when the air turns cool. Colours range from soft tones to brighter shades, relaxed by day, dressier by evening.

Men

For men, the brand keeps a deliberately tight range built around the tee. A straight cut that follows the body without gripping, round neck, short or long sleeves: the essentials, done well. The merino and silk jersey is fine and supple, and for more texture some styles switch to honeycomb. In wear, the knit regulates temperature, breathes and dries quickly, without holding odours even after several hours. The result is a tee worn on its own or as a base layer, from morning to night, as at home in movement as it is at rest.

Accessories

The accessories carry the house onto the ground of gesture: what you wrap, what you cross, what you grab on the way out. Scarves, snoods, neck warmers, hats, headbands and a belt, all in the same merino and silk knit as the clothes. Some pieces go large, up to 60 by 190 cm, to wind around the neck or rest across the shoulders. You pick the knit to suit the mood, denser and more enveloping in rib, airier in honeycomb, more supple in jersey, and the finish, understated tone on tone or vivid in a multicoloured rolled edge. Warm without scratching, light, and breathable like the rest.
