{"product_id":"mojo-cermanics","title":"Mojo Cermanics","description":"\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eAfter more than twenty-five years spent mostly in front of a computer, working in advertising and marketing as a designer and art director, Effrosini Tolia found herself with itchy fingers and a need to return to something more primal, where hands, mind and senses work together. She fell in love with ceramics in 2018, and in September 2023 she opened Mojo Ceramics, her studio in Agia Paraskevi, Athens. Everything here is built entirely by hand, mostly through coiling and slab work, each piece carrying her characteristic slanted stroke. Tolia works in stoneware, black, brown, buff, red and white clays, sometimes marbled together, finished with slips, engobes, oxides, wild clay and glazes that run from gold to crater and ash, then fired in oxidation. Nothing is repeated. She calls them tactile objects for the soul: some are sculptural statement pieces meant to invoke a feeling and draw you into a distinct mental space, others are everyday companions, cups, bowls and plates that move between design-led and wabi-sabi, total black or full of colour. The studio also opens for lessons.
